Video shows the thermometer installed on the hinged side of the lid. Can this be installed on the top of lid?

I wouldn't place the PK BBQ Thermometer by Tel-Tru , on the top of your grill because it will give you a higher reading—heat rises, so a top-mounted thermometer won’t show the actual temperature at food level. For best results, mount the thermometer closer to your food, ideally on the lid near grate height, away from the fire side and where it won’t snag on grill accessories. This placement is especially important for smoking, to monitor the temperature where it matters most.
